As President and Chief Executive Officer, Joseph Mullen is responsible for the acquisition, investment management and operations of the company's national portfolio. As President and Chief Executive Officer, Joseph Mullen is responsible for the acquisition, investment management and operations of the company's national portfolio. Joseph was instrumental in the formation of Madison on behalf of Equus Capital Partners, Ltd. and was named the firm's president at its inception in 2001. Prior to forming Madison, Joseph was responsible for the acquisition, investment management and operations for commercial and multifamily properties for Equus from 1988 to 2001. Previously he was an accountant with Mathieson, Aiken & Company. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a licensed real estate salesperson in Pennsylvania. Currently, he serves on the Board of Trustees at Malvern Preparatory School and is the Chairman of the Board of the National Kidney Foundation. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from DeSales University.

Mr. Spaeder is a Senior Regional Manager for Equus Capital Partners, Ltd., where he is responsible for managing multifamily new development and communities in the Pennsylvania market. Prior to joining Equus in 2020, Mr. Spaeder was in an operations role for Madison Apartment Group. As property manager of a new development asset located in the suburban Philadelphia market, he oversaw the construction and lease-up, accelerating property performance. Mr. Spaeder graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Marketing.

As Controller, Fred Brown oversees all accounting responsibilities related to Madison Apartment Group. This includes leading the Madison accounting group in the preparation and review of monthly and quarterly financial statements and assisting in year end audit procedures. Fred also interacts with various lending institutions and investors to provide financial reporting as needed. Fred joined the Equus Accounting department in 1998 and then transferred to Madison at its inception in 2001. Prior to that, Fred worked in public accounting for six years in the Philadelphia area and obtained his CPA license. He holds a B.A. Economic and Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from Ursinus College.

Additionally, Allison provides operational support on acquisitions and dispositions and also assists with the overall operating performance of the entire portfolio. Allison studied Business at Georgia State University in Atlanta, is a Certified Revenue Manager and has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry. Allison has been with Madison for 18 years.

Bethany joined Madison in 2015 on-site, and worked in each office position prior to joining the corporate team in 2021.
